Built by the friars of the Order of St. Bruno as an agricultural branch of the Carthusian monastery of Cazalla de la Sierra in the mid-16th century, its purpose was to collect agricultural resources to supply the friars of the Casa Granja, the friars of Cazalla de la Sierra and the friars of Santa María de las Cuevas (Seville).
