The Camino de la Frontera towards Santiago de Compostela is one of the options available for those who decide to make a pilgrimage and make the Camino de Santiago from the South.

 

The section historically known as Camino de la Frontera runs between Andalusia and Extremadura, crossing several provinces of both communities.

 

Part of the town of Olvera, in Cádiz, traveling through Seville and connecting with the Vía de la Plata in Los Santos de Maimona, in the province of Badajoz.

 

Through its stages you can get to know its towns, its gastronomy, its customs, its landscapes, its way of life and, of course, its people.

Are 20 stages that make up the Camino de la Frontera, covering 28 towns located in 3 different provinces of the autonomous communities of Andalusia and Extremadura, starting in Olvera, Pruna, Algámitas, Villanueva de San Juan, El Saucejo, Los Corrales, Martin de la Jara, Pedrera, Gilena, Estepa, El Rubio, Ecija, Cañada Rosal, La Campana, Lora del Río, and so after touring the riverside plain and its horticultural orchards we will enter the Sierra Morena Natural Park in Seville. Its characteristic mountain range of hills and hills will offer us pastures, forests of holm oaks and cork oaks, gall oaks and chestnut trees, and gallery forests, such as ash and willow trees.

 

Route of the Camino with El Pedroso as the protagonist:

 

Stop 1: Villanueva del Río and Minas

In the mining town of Villanueva del Río y Minas we cross the bank of the Huéznar through the Guadalquivir hamlet towards the El Pedroso mountain range.

 

Stop 2: El Pedroso

Once we arrive at our municipality we will cross it from the Tourist Office and Renfe Station, passing by the Church of Our Lady of Consolation, Hermitage of Our Lady of Espino and its Cruz del Humilladero, until we enter a beautiful stage that It presents a climb along a firm and wide track.

 

Stop 3: Cazalla de la Sierra Station

This route is mainly paved terrain, which makes it comfortable arriving at Cazalla de la Sierra, and later San Nicolás del Puerto, Alanís, Guadalcanal, Fuente del Arco, Casas de Reina, Reina, Llerena, Villagarcía de la Torre, Usagre and Los Santos de Maimona where it connects with the Vía de la Plata.
